Method

Prepare the Beef

1

Season the Beef

In a bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and lime juice. Rub this mixture all over the beef.

2

Cook the Beef

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef and sear on all sides until browned. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

3

Slow Cook

Transfer the beef to a slow cooker and add a little water or broth if needed. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the beef is tender and can be shredded easily.

4

Cook the Rice

Prepare the rice according to package instructions. Typically, this involves rinsing the rice and cooking it in water or broth until fluffy.

5

Heat the Refried Beans

In a small saucepan, heat the refried beans over medium heat until warmed through, stirring occasionally.

Assemble the Tacos

6

Warm the Tortillas

In a skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.

7

Fill the Tacos

Take a warm tortilla and fill it with shredded beef, then add your choice of cilantro, diced white onions, and habanero onions.

8

Add Salsa and Serve

Top with green salsa and serve with lime wedges on the side. Enjoy with rice and refried beans.
