Prepare the Chickpeas
If using canned chickpeas, drain and rinse them under cold water to remove excess sodium. If using dried chickpeas, soak them overnight and cook until tender.

Mince the Garlic
Peel the garlic cloves and finely mince them using a knife or a garlic press.
Blending

Combine Ingredients
In a food processor, add the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, salt, and water.

Blend Until Smooth
Process the mixture on high speed until it becomes creamy and smooth. You may need to scrape down the sides of the processor a few times to ensure everything is well combined.

Adjust Consistency
If the hummus is too thick, add more water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
Serving

Transfer to Serving Bowl
Spoon the hummus into a serving bowl, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Serve the hummus with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or crackers.
