Pulled Pork Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Spice Rub

In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Season the Pork

Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, making sure to cover all sides. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for better flavor.

  3. 3

    Cook the Pork

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a roasting pan and cover it tightly with foil. Roast in the oven for 4-5 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  4. 4

    Shred the Pork

Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes. Use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Texas Toast

While the pork is resting, toast the Texas toast slices according to package instructions or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Dish

Top each slice of Texas toast with a generous portion of pulled pork. Drizzle with BBQ sauce if desired.
