Preparing the Coffee Mixture

Brew Coffee
Prepare 1 cup of strong brewed coffee. Allow it to cool slightly.

Mix Coffee and Liqueur
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee with 1 tablespoon of coffee liqueur.
Making the Cream Mixture

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture becomes pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese until well combined.

Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assembling the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer Ingredients
In a 9x9 inch dish, create a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture on top, smoothing it out evenly.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.
Chilling and Serving

Chill Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Dust with Cocoa Powder
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
