Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty that is about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired level of doneness.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half if they are not pre-sliced. You can toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, slices of tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
