Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas. Place them in a food processor.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

Add parsley, cilantro, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper to the food processor. Blend until smooth but still slightly chunky.

  3. 3

    Add Flour

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add all-purpose flour. Mix until combined. If the mixture is too wet, add a bit more flour.

  4. 4

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Shape the Falafel

Once chilled, use your hands to form small balls or patties from the mixture.

  6. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  7. 7

    Fry the Falafel

Fry the falafel in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the falafel hot with green tahini, pickled lemon, and pickled turnip.
