Steak Preparation
- 1
Season the Steak
Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering, but not smoking.
- 3
Sear the Steak
Add the seasoned ribeye steaks to the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms.
- 4
Flip and Add Flavor
Flip the steaks and add the butter, garlic cloves (smashed), and fresh rosemary or thyme to the skillet. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, basting the steaks with the melted butter.
- 5
Check Doneness
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature for your desired doneness (medium-rare: 130°F, medium: 140°F). Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.
