Prepare Burger Patties

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until evenly combined.

Form Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about ¾ inch thick.
Cook the Mushrooms

Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.

Add Swiss Cheese
In the last minute of cooking, place two slices of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.
Assemble the Burger

Toast Buns
If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Layer Ingredients
On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato (if using). Add the cooked burger patty with melted cheese on top.

Add Mushrooms
Generously spoon the sautéed mushrooms over the cheese-topped patties.
