Method

Preparing the Ingredients

  1. 1

    Cook the Hashbrowns

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter or oil over medium heat. Add 2 cups of hashbrowns, spreading them evenly across the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on one side, until golden brown, then flip and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes on the other side until crispy.

  2. 2

    Cook the Ham Steak

In the same skillet or a separate one, add the bone-in ham steak. Cook over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until heated through and slightly caramelized. Remove from the skillet and keep warm.

Cooking the Eggs and Toast

  1. 3

    Fry the Eggs

In the same skillet used for the ham steak, crack 2 eggs into the skillet. Cook them sunny-side up or over-easy, depending on your preference. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the whites are set.

  2. 4

    Toast the Bread

While the eggs are cooking, toast 2 slices of bread or an English muffin in a toaster or on a grill until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate the Dish

On a plate, serve the cooked ham steak alongside the crispy hashbrowns. Place the fried eggs on the side and add the toast or English muffin. Offer hot sauce or ketchup on the side, if desired.
