Main Ingredients

Glazing Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). This ensures that the ham cooks evenly.

  2. 2

    Score the Ham

Using a sharp knife, make shallow cuts in a diamond pattern on the surface of the ham. This helps the glaze penetrate better.

  3. 3

    Insert Cloves

Insert whole cloves into the intersections of the scored lines on the ham for added flavor.

Glazing

  1. 4

    Mix Glaze Ingredients

In a bowl, combine brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 5

    Apply the Glaze

Brush the glaze generously over the entire surface of the ham, ensuring all scored areas are coated.

Cooking

  1. 6

    Bake the Ham

Place the ham in a roasting pan and cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 18-20 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).

  2. 7

    Baste the Ham

Every 30 minutes, remove the foil and baste the ham with the drippings from the pan. Re-cover the ham with foil and return it to the oven.

  3. 8

    Finish Cooking

For the last 30 minutes, uncover the ham to allow the glaze to caramelize. Watch closely to prevent burning.

  4. 9

    Rest the Ham

Once done, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute.
