Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until they are crispy. Remove them from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain excess grease.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Burger Patties (Optional)

If using burger patties, shape ground beef into two patties. Season with salt and pepper. Grill or pan-fry the patties over medium-high heat until they reach your desired doneness, usually about 4-5 minutes per side.

  3. 3

    Melt the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking the patties, add ½ cup of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cover the skillet or grill to melt the cheese.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Cowboy

On the bottom half of each burger bun (if using), place a patty with melted cheese. Layer on the crispy bacon, followed by onion straws. Drizzle BBQ sauce generously over the top. Add pickles, lettuce, and tomato slices as desired.

  2. 5

    Top It Off

Place the top half of the burger bun over the assembled ingredients. Press down gently to secure everything in place.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Cowboy

Serve immediately while hot, with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
