Burger Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Beef Patty
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Shape the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
- 3
Cook the Patties
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil. Once hot, add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- 4
Prepare the Vegetables
While the burgers are cooking, wash the lettuce leaves and slice the tomato into thick slices.
- 5
Assemble the Burger
Toast the burger buns lightly on the skillet. Place a cooked patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce and tomato slices, and then place the top half of the bun on each burger.
- 6
Serve
Serve the cheeseburgers immediately with your favorite condiments, if desired.
