Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Mashing

Heat 5 gallons of water to 165°F. Add the Pale Malt and Crystal Malt to the water and maintain the temperature for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge with hot water (170°F) to collect around 6.5 gallons of wort.

  3. 3

    Boiling

Bring the wort to a boil. Add Cascade hops at the start of the boil. After 45 minutes, add Amarillo hops. Boil for a total of 60 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cooling

Cool the wort quickly to about 70°F using a wort chiller.

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter and pitch the yeast. Seal and ferment at 68-72°F for about 1-2 weeks.

  6. 6

    Bottling

After fermentation, dissolve priming sugar in a small amount of water and add to the beer before bottling. Bottle and cap the beer, then let it condition for another 1-2 weeks.
