Meat Mixture

Method

Preparation of Meat Mixture

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, minced garlic, chopped onion, chopped parsley, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  2. 2

    Form into Patties

With wet hands, take a portion of the meat mixture and form it into oval-shaped patties or skewers, about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

  3. 3

    Chill the Patties

Place the formed kafta patties on a plate or tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Cooking the Kafta

  1. 4

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan.

  2. 5

    Cook the Kafta

Once the grill or skillet is hot, place the kafta patties on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through.

  3. 6

    Rest the Kafta

Remove the kafta from the grill or skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

Serving

  1. 7

    Prepare the Serving Plate

On a serving platter, arrange the cooked kafta with pita bread or lettuce wraps, tzatziki sauce, sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and lemon wedges.

  2. 8

    Enjoy

Serve the kafta warm, with your choice of accompaniments, and enjoy!
