Method
Papaya Salad
- 1
Prepare the Papaya
Peel and shred the green papaya into thin strips using a grater or a food processor.
- 2
Prepare the Carrot
Peel and shred the carrot into thin strips, similar to the papaya.
- 3
Combine Salad Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the shredded green papaya, shredded carrot, halved cherry tomatoes, and cut green beans.
- 4
Make the Dressing
In a separate bowl, whisk together lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, and chili flakes until the sugar dissolves.
- 5
Toss the Salad
Pour the dressing over the salad and toss well to combine. Top with chopped peanuts.
Pork Belly
- 6
Marinate the Pork Belly
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Coat the pork belly evenly with the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 7
Cook the Pork Belly
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the marinated pork belly on a baking tray and cook for 2 to 3 hours until tender. Optionally, finish under the broiler for 5-10 minutes for a crispy skin.
- 8
Slice the Pork
Once cooked, let the pork belly rest for 10 minutes before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.
Buns and Assembly
- 9
Prepare the Buns
Steam the buns according to package instructions until soft and warm.
- 10
Assemble the Pork Belly Buns
Place a slice of pork belly onto each steamed bun. Top with sliced cucumber and chopped green onions.
- 11
Serve
Serve the pork belly buns alongside the papaya salad for a complete meal.
