Base Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Base

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dashi

In a medium-sized pot, combine 4 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of dashi stock granules. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the granules.

Making the Soup

  1. 2

    Add Tofu and Seaweed

Once the dashi is boiling, reduce the heat to low. Carefully add the cubed tofu and dried wakame seaweed to the pot. Allow them to heat through for about 2 minutes.

  2. 3

    Incorporate Miso

Using a ladle or a small bowl, scoop out a little bit of the hot broth and mix it with the miso paste until it's smooth. This will prevent clumping. Once mixed, add the miso mixture back into the pot, stirring gently to combine.

  3. 4

    Add Green Onions

Finally, stir in the sliced green onions and let the soup simmer for another minute, ensuring all ingredients are heated but not boiling to preserve the flavor of the miso.

Serving the Soup

  1. 5

    Serve Hot

Ladle the miso soup into bowls and serve hot. Enjoy as a comforting starter or alongside your favorite Japanese meal.
