Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Protein

If using chicken or shrimp, cut the protein into bite-sized pieces. If using tofu, press and cube it.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the yellow onion, julienne the carrot, slice the mild pepper, and trim the ends of the green beans. Chop the fresh basil and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Lo Mein Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the Lo Mein noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Protein

In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the prepared protein and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 5

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add the diced onion, carrot, mild pepper, and green beans. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  4. 6

    Combine Everything

Add the cooked Lo Mein noodles and protein back into the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Pour in the basil sauce and toss everything together until well combined and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.

  5. 7

    Finish with Fresh Basil

Remove from heat and gently fold in the fresh basil before serving.
