Prepare the Bread
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette or ciabatta loaf into 1-inch thick slices.

Toast the Bread
Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet. Brush one side of each slice with extra virgin olive oil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and crispy.

Chop the Tomatoes
While the bread is toasting, chop the fresh tomatoes into small cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

Add Basil and Garlic
Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes. Mince the garlic cloves and add them as well.

Season the Mixture
Drizzle the tomato mixture with 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Gently mix everything together until well combined.

Assemble the Bruschetta
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto the toasted side of each slice.
