Fried Pickles
Ranch Dressing
Method
Fried Pickles
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the sliced dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Set Up the Breading Station
In one bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, add the buttermilk.
- 3
Bread the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice first in the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge it in the flour-cornmeal mixture until fully coated. Repeat until all pickles are breaded.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the breaded pickle slices to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the fried pickles hot with ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
Ranch Dressing
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.
- 8
Add Seasonings
Stir in the dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- 9
Chill
Cover and refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
