Main Dish Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brisket

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). In a small bowl, mix together onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, salt, and brown sugar. Rub this mixture all over the brisket.

  2. 2

    Sear the Brisket

In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.

  3. 3

    Add Broth

Pour the beef broth into the skillet, ensuring it covers the bottom. Cover the skillet tightly with foil.

  4. 4

    Bake the Brisket

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 3 to 4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.

  5. 5

    Rest the Brisket

Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing against the grain.

Sides Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Green Beans

While the brisket is resting, rinse and trim the green beans. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add the green beans. Cook for 4-5 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and set aside.

  2. 7

    Make Mashed Potatoes

Peel and chop potatoes. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.

  3. 8

    Mash the Potatoes

Add butter and milk to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. 9

    Serve the Sides

Serve the green beans alongside the mashed potatoes, both complementing the brisket beautifully.
