Method
Rosti Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and grate the potatoes using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
- 3
Cook the Rosti
Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and add olive oil and butter. Once hot, spread half of the potato mixture evenly to form a base layer. Cook for about 10-12 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
- 4
Form the Dome
Carefully flip the rosti base onto a plate. Add the filling (see filling section) on top of the base, leaving a small border around the edges. Top with the remaining potato mixture, pressing down slightly to form a dome.
- 5
Finish Cooking
Return the rosti to the skillet and cook for an additional 10-12 minutes on medium heat until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the rosti again and cook the other side until golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
