Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and place them in a bowl.

  2. 2

    Prepare Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.

  3. 3

    Prepare Breadcrumbs

Place breadcrumbs in a shallow dish for easy coating of the onion rings.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated. Then, roll the coated ring in the breadcrumbs until evenly covered.

  3. 6

    Fry Onion Rings

Carefully place the coated onion rings in the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning them occasionally for even cooking.

  4. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Once golden brown, remove the onion rings from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve Hot

Transfer the fried onion rings to a serving platter. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
