Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Beef

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, approximately 1/3 lb each.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill or stovetop pan over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Grill the Patties

Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Add Condiments

Spread mustard and ketchup on the bottom half of each toasted bun.

  3. 8

    Layer the Ingredients

Place one beef patty on each bun. Top with sliced onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickles.

  4. 9

    Complete the Burger

Finish by placing the top half of the bun on each burger.
