Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Press the Tofu

Wrap the firm tofu in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the tofu is pressing, peel and julienne the carrot and cucumber. Chop the green onions finely and set aside.

Cooking the Tofu

  1. 3

    Cube the Tofu

Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into small cubes (about 1 cm).

  2. 4

    Cook the Tofu

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add a splash of oil and the cubed tofu. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown on all sides.

Making the Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey or maple syrup, minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes until well combined.

Assembling the Wraps

  1. 6

    Mix Tofu with Sauce

Once the tofu is cooked, pour the sauce over the tofu in the skillet. Stir to coat the tofu evenly and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.

  2. 7

    Build the Wraps

Lay out the lettuce leaves on a serving platter. Spoon a portion of the tofu mixture into the center of each leaf. Top with julienned carrot, cucumber, and chopped green onions.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve the tofu lettuce wraps immediately, allowing everyone to pick their own wrap.
