Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Linguine

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 9-11 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the linguine in a colander and set aside. Reserve a cup of the pasta water for later use.

Bolognese Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

  3. 5

    Cook the Ground Beef

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

  4. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  5. 7

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the sauce becomes too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

  6. 8

    Finish the Sauce

Stir in the chopped basil leaves and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Combining

  1. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained linguine to the skillet with the Bolognese sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 10

    Serve

Plate the linguine Bolognese and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving. Enjoy your meal!
