Method

For the Calamari

  1. 1

    Prepare the Calamari

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Coat the Calamari

Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  4. 4

    Fry the Calamari

Carefully place the coated calamari rings into the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the calamari from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately.

For the Spicy Aioli

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, sriracha sauce, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 7

    Mix Well

Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well combined and the aioli is smooth.

  3. 8

    Chill and Serve

Cover the aioli and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve alongside the crispy calamari.
