Dough Preparation

1

Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, warm the milk until lukewarm. Add sugar and yeast, stirring gently. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix well.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.

4

Form the Dough

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix to form a dough, knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.

5

First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

6

Shape and Second Rise

Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.

7

Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let it cool before slicing.

Butter Preparation

8

Prepare Butters

In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Divide into two parts, adding honey to one part and mixing well. To the second part, add garlic powder and chives, mixing until combined.

9

Serve

Serve the milk bread warm with the honey butter and herb butter on the side.
