Grilled Marinated Portabella

Method

Preparation and Grilling

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a small mixing bowl, combine the minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Mushrooms

Place the portabella mushrooms in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the mushrooms, ensuring they are well coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for a more intense flavor.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

While the mushrooms are marinating, preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  4. 4

    Grill the Mushrooms

Remove the mushrooms from the marinade, letting any excess drip off. Place the mushrooms on the grill, gill side down. Grill for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they are tender and have nice grill marks.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Field Greens

While the mushrooms are grilling, rinse the field greens under cold water and spin dry in a salad spinner or pat dry with a clean kitchen towel.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once the mushrooms are grilled to your liking, remove them from the grill. Serve the grilled portabella mushrooms on a bed of field greens, drizzling any leftover marinade over the top if desired.
