Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Housemade French Fries

Method

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients for the grilled cheese sandwich: sourdough bread, cheddar cheese, and butter.

  2. 2

    Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet. Top with the slices of cheddar cheese, then place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side up.

  4. 4

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat the skillet over medium heat. Grill the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove the grilled cheese sandwich from the skillet, cut it in half, and serve hot.

Housemade French Fries

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into long strips to create fries.

  2. 7

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps them become crispier when fried.

  3. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 9

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain and pat the potato strips dry with paper towels. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil and fry for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  5. 10

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt to taste while they are still hot.

  6. 11

    Serve

Serve the hot, crispy fries alongside the grilled cheese sandwich.
