Prepare the Coffee

Brew Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee using an espresso machine or stovetop method. Allow it to cool slightly.

Mix with Liqueur
If using, mix the brewed espresso with 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur in a shallow dish. Set aside.
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in 16 oz of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream until soft peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined and fluffy.
Assemble the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip 24 ladyfinger cookies into the espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers, followed by half of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
Serve

Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder using a fine sieve.
