Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan, egg, chopped parsley, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 2 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and allow to cook for about 15 minutes.

  3. 6

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the saucepan and let them simmer in the tomato sauce for an additional 10 minutes.

Crostini

  1. 7

    Prepare Crostini

Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices. Brush both sides with olive oil.

  2. 8

    Toast Crostini

Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

  3. 9

    Add Garlic Flavor

Once toasted, rub the halved garlic cloves over the warm crostini for added flavor.
