Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the ziti pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

To the skillet with the beef, add the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let simmer for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Mix Cheese Filling

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Baked Ziti

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large baking dish, start by layering half of the cooked ziti. Spread half of the meat sauce over the pasta and dollop half of the ricotta mixture on top. Sprinkle with one cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining ziti, meat sauce, ricotta, and top with the remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

  6. 6

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  7. 7

    Serve

Allow the baked ziti to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious baked ziti!
