Directions
- 1
Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Chicken
While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken breast with salt and black pepper. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the center. Remove from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.
- 3
Make the Sauce
In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Stir in heavy cream, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with additional salt and black pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4
Combine Pasta and Chicken
Add the cooked penne pasta and sliced chicken to the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta and chicken are well coated with the sauce.
- 5
Bake the Dish
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the pasta and chicken mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Serve
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
