Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess fat. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into pieces.

  3. 3

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same skillet, remove excess bacon grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add butter and melt over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk, and continue cooking until the sauce thickens. Stir in salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Add the cooked macaroni and crumbled bacon to the cheese sauce. Stir until well combined. If the mixture is too thick, add a bit more milk to reach desired consistency.

  5. 5

    Serve

Spoon the mac and cheese into bowls and top with remaining cheddar cheese and chopped green onions. Serve warm.
