Shrimp Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
Rinse the extra jumbo black tiger shrimp under cool running water. Pat them dry with paper towels. If the shrimp are not already deveined, carefully cut along the back and remove the vein.
- 2
Season the Shrimp
In a large bowl, season the shrimp with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to coat evenly and let marinate for about 15 minutes.
- 3
Set Up Breading Station
Prepare three shallow dishes: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs. Make sure to season the flour with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- 4
Bread the Shrimp
Take each seasoned shrimp and coat it first in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). You can test the temperature by dropping in a breadcrumb; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.
- 6
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove the shrimp with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fried shrimp immediately while they are hot, with your choice of dipping sauce.
