Fry Preparation

1. Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips or wedges, depending on your preference. Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

2. Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the water and pat the potato strips dry with a clean towel. This will help them crisp up during frying.

3. Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a kitchen thermometer for accuracy.

Frying

4. Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of dried potato strips to the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

5. Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Toss gently to coat evenly.

Serving

6. Add Optional Toppings

If desired, sprinkle the fries with grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, garlic powder, and paprika for added flavor.

7. Serve

Serve the fries hot in a basket or on a plate, and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces!
