Heat the Oil
In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 4
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel to remove as much moisture as possible.

Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of the dried potato sticks into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain Excess Oil
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder over them. Toss gently to ensure the fries are evenly coated with the seasoning.
