Method

Preparing the Prawns

  1. 1

    Boil the Prawns

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add salt and the whole lemon (cut in half) to the water. Add the fresh prawns and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.

  2. 2

    Drain and Cool

Once cooked, drain the prawns and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Peel the Prawns

Once cooled, peel the prawns, removing the shell and tail, and set aside.

Making the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 4

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, and lemon juice. Stir well until fully combined.

  2. 5

    Add Fresh Dill (Optional)

If using, chop the fresh dill and fold it into the sauce for added flavor.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 6

    Prepare the Serving Dish

On a serving plate, lay out the lettuce leaves as a bed for the prawns.

  2. 7

    Arrange the Prawns

Place the peeled prawns on top of the lettuce leaves.

  3. 8

    Serve with Sauce and Garnish

Serve the prawn cocktail with the cocktail sauce on the side and garnish with lemon wedges.
