Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Squid

Begin by cleaning the squid. Rinse under cold water and remove the head, tentacles, and the innards. Remove the skin if desired. Cut the squid into rings or leave whole.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and optional chili flakes and paprika. Add the cleaned squid and toss to coat.

  3. 3

    Chop the Parsley

Finely chop the fresh parsley and set aside.

  4. 4

    Slice the Lemon

Cut the lemon in half, then slice one half into wedges for serving. Reserve the other half for juicing.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 6

    Cook the Squid

Place the marinated squid on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are opaque and slightly charred.

  3. 7

    Add Lemon Juice

Squeeze the reserved lemon half over the cooked squid before removing from heat.

Serving

  1. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the cooked squid to a serving platter. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
