Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Season the 6 oz. Piedmontese beef filet on both sides with salt and black pepper. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Shrimp

Peel and devein the jumbo shrimp, leaving the tails on. In a small saucepan, melt the garlic butter over low heat until fully liquefied.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and chop the red potatoes into quarters. Rinse them under cold water to remove excess starch.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Broccoli

Wash and cut the broccoli into florets.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Cook the Potatoes

Place the chopped red potatoes in a pot filled with salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and return to the pot.

  2. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the drained potatoes and mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.

  3. 7

    Cook the Broccoli

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and add the broccoli florets. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender. Drain and set aside.

  4. 8

    Cook the Beef

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned beef filet and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare (or longer if you prefer it cooked more). Remove from the skillet and let rest for a few minutes.

  5. 9

    Cook the Shrimp

In the same skillet used for the beef, add the garlic butter. Once melted, add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

On a plate, scoop a generous portion of the rustic red potato mash. Place the cooked beef filet beside it, and top with the garlic butter shrimp. Arrange the buttered broccoli on the side. Garnish with freshly chopped chives and a squeeze of lemon juice to taste.
