Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Once the yeast is activated, add it along with olive oil to the flour mixture.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let it Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Pesto Sauce Preparation
- 5
Blend Ingredients
In a food processor, combine fresh basil leaves, garlic cloves, pine nuts, parmesan cheese, and salt.
- 6
Add Olive Oil
While blending, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
Pizza Assembly
- 7
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- 8
Roll Out Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 9
Spread Pesto
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread a generous amount of pesto sauce over the dough.
- 10
Add Toppings
Layer the shredded chicken, mozzarella cheese, sliced bell peppers, red onion, zucchini, and halved cherry tomatoes evenly over the pesto.
- 11
Bake the Pizza
Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 12
Serve
Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
