Prepare the Glass
Chill an Old Fashioned glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the cocktail.

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 2 oz of Bulleit Rye Whiskey, 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters, and 0.5 oz of Simple Syrup.

Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes and stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain into Glass
Discard the ice water from the chilled Old Fashioned glass. Use a strainer to pour the cocktail mixture into the glass over fresh ice cubes.

Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and giving it a twist. Drop the peel into the glass. Add a maraschino cherry for garnish.
