Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Infuse the Spirit

In a large glass jar, combine the bitter herbs, cinnamon stick, cloves, and orange peel. Pour the neutral spirit over the herbs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Seal the jar tightly and let it sit in a cool, dark place for at least 2 weeks for the flavors to meld. Shake gently every few days.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Syrup

In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

After the infusion period, strain the herbal mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean container. Discard the herbs and solids. Add the cooled syrup to the infused spirit and stir well to combine.

  4. 4

    Bottle the Amaro

Using a funnel, pour the Braulio Amaro into clean, sterilized bottles. Seal tightly and label them. The Amaro can be enjoyed immediately, but allowing it to age for a few months will enhance the flavors.
