Funnel Cake and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Funnel Cake Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
- 3
Fry the Funnel Cakes
Using a funnel or squeeze bottle, drizzle the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion, forming a spiral. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Make the Sweet Cream Reduction
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Reduce heat and let it simmer gently for 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- 5
Prepare the Strawberries
Wash and slice the fresh strawberries. You can sprinkle a little sugar on them if you prefer them sweeter.
- 6
Assemble the Funnel Cake
Place the funnel cake on a serving plate, drizzle the sweet cream reduction over the top, and add the sliced strawberries. Finally, place a Mister A's Strawberry-Vanilla 50/50 bar on the side or on top for garnish.
