Method

Baguette Preparation

  1. 1

    Making the Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add flour and salt, and mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Kneading

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  3. 3

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. 4

    Shaping the Baguettes

Punch down the dough and divide it into 2 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a long baguette and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  5. 5

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped baguettes with a cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Baking

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Make a few slashes on top of the baguettes, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

House Whipped French Butter

  1. 7

    Whipping the Butter

At room temperature, beat the unsalted butter in a mixing bowl until creamy. Add sea salt and finely chopped fresh herbs, and mix until well combined.

Olive & Herb Oil Preparation

  1. 8

    Infusing the Oil

In a small bowl, combine extra virgin olive oil with finely chopped fresh herbs. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
