Biscuit Ingredients
Method
Biscuit Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, benne seeds, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Cut in Butter
Add the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Add Buttermilk
Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 5
Fold in Peaches and Goat Cheese
Gently fold in the diced peaches and crumbled goat cheese until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- 6
Shape and Bake
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick round. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass. Place them on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 7
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool slightly before serving warm.
