Squid Preparation
Sweet Chili Sauce
Method
Squid Preparation
- 1
Clean and Prepare Squid
Begin by cleaning the squid if not pre-cleaned. Remove the head and innards, and peel off the skin. Rinse thoroughly under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- 2
Cut Squid into Rings
Cut the cleaned squid into rings that are approximately 1 cm thick. Place them in a bowl.
- 3
Dredge Squid Rings
In a separate bowl, mix the cornflour, salt, and freshly ground black pepper together. Dredge the squid rings in this mixture until they are fully coated.
- 4
Heat Oil for Frying
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium-high heat until hot (about 180°C or 350°F).
- 5
Fry Squid Rings
Carefully add the coated squid rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- 6
Drain Excess Oil
Once cooked, remove the squid from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Sweet Chili Sauce
- 7
Prepare Sweet Chili Sauce
In a small bowl, mix the sweet chili sauce with fresh lime juice to add a tangy flavor.
- 8
Serve and Garnish
Serve the fried squid rings on a plate, drizzled with the sweet chili sauce and garnished with chopped fresh cilantro.
