Cooking Instructions

1. Prepare the Macaroni

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to create a roux and cook for about 2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually whisk in milk and cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Stir in Ashe County Cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

3. Combine Pasta and Cheese Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, stirring until all the pasta is well-coated.

4. Prepare the Topping

Crush Ritz crackers into small crumbs and mix with paprika in a small bowl.

5. Assemble and Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the Ritz cracker mixture on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

6. Serve

Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm and enjoy your Ashe County Cheddar Baked Mac N' Cheese!
