Method
Chicken Teriyaki
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the teriyaki marinade.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Cook the Chicken
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked and caramelized.
- 4
Thicken the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to form a slurry. Once the chicken is cooked, pour the slurry into the skillet to thicken the sauce. Stir until combined and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Crispy Gyoza
- 5
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- 6
Fill the Gyoza
Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each gyoza wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold over, and press to seal.
- 7
Steamed Rice
- 8
Rinse the Rice
Rinse jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- 9
Cook the Rice
In a pot, combine rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- 10
Fluff the Rice
Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Salad
- 11
Prepare the Salad
In a large bowl, combine mixed salad greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber.
- 12
Dress the Salad
Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine.
