Sesame Sauce
Method
Preparing the Chicken
- 1
Prep the Chicken Breast
Start by trimming any excess fat from the chicken breasts, then cut them into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and cornstarch. In another bowl, whisk the egg and water together until well combined. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring until smooth.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Chicken
Dip the chicken pieces into the batter, ensuring they are well coated. Carefully drop the battered chicken into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Making the Sesame Sauce
- 5
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, rice vinegar, and minced garlic. Stir well to combine.
- 6
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
- 7
Finish the Sauce
Remove from heat and stir in sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
Serving
- 8
Assemble the Dish
Place the fried chicken pieces on a serving platter and drizzle generously with the sesame sauce. Optionally, garnish with additional sesame seeds and green onions.
- 9
Serve
Serve hot with a side of steamed rice or vegetables.
